On The Road 2014 – Kentucky

This year’s road trip starts with a trip to Kentucky. This place happens to be on the way to Washington DC, the intended second stop.

The week before the trip I found this van for a song. It came with a full tank of petrol(gasoline) worth about a hundred dollars at today’s prices.

The first task was to take the seats out and get the vehicle ready for sleep.

Got some wood at Lowes and built a bed frame with drawers salvaged from an old chest of drawers.

So then it was off to the road. Memphis was first real stop and that only for fuel. As tech would have it, the tank on this van is 27 gallons and allows you to drive 500 miles without stopping. Like I would want to do that! Yeah Right!

The first place in Kentucky I wind up is in Little Rock – a really small town in the beautiful boonies – to see an old friend.IMG_20140712_171414

Then on to the big city of Millersburg, where it all began.
